We started the house design process after we purchased the land. We were inspired by mountain home designs, with an open floor plan, one level living, cathedral ceilings and a BIG window in the living room. We designed a home with main level living, including a master bedroom and bath, and open living room, kitchen and dining room with cathedral ceilings. The lower level is a finished walk-out basement, which has two bedrooms, a full bath, office, family room, and utility space. We drafted a floor plan using sketch up to get us started, and then we consulted with a professional to help us to improve the plans, and complete the construction drawings. Our professional designer happens to be my cousin Kim, and she did a fantastic job! We spent a lot of time planning and making decisions during this process, but it was worth it, and we are really excited about the house plans!
